My St. Croix Woods

Friday, 25 January 2019 15:20

SCRA’s Forestry Program aims to promote and support lasting forest stewardship across the St. Croix watershed. Covering over 2.75 million acres and over half the watershed, our forests play a critical role in keeping the waters of the St. Croix clean and healthy. Our North Woods forests are also an economic and recreational cornerstone in many communities across the watershed, as well as an important legacy for many individuals and families. Nearly 75% of forests in the watershed are privately owned, so supporting these landowners to leave a legacy of healthy, sustainable forests for the future is vital to the future of the watershed its communities.

Through the My St. Croix Woods program, SCRA brings together public agencies, partner organizations, foresters, loggers, and industry representatives to better reach and serve private woodland owners throughout the watershed. We connect landowners to the best resources, information, opportunities and professionals to make the best decisions for the woodlands. By increasing local capacity and helping landowners to steward their woodlands, we hope to ensure healthy forests that provide vital habitat for wildlife, resources for strong local economies and protection for the locally, regionally, and nationally significant St. Croix River.
